Jednotný trhavý náboj. Náboj je používán v pozemním boji k ničení živé síly, nepancéřovaných vozidel a polního opevnění.Zapalovač hlavový kl.A.Z.23. Samotné tělo střely je silnostěnné s protaženým předním ogivalem a má dvě FES vodící obroučky. Téměř do poloviny délky granátu zasahuje počinka C98 která dále pokračuje vyvíječem kouře z červeného fosforu Raucheniwickler No.8. Střela má hmotnost 5,74kg při náplni 690 g litého TNT
Nábojnice značena 7,5cm KwK.42 (6387) je plněna trubičkovým diglykolovým prachem (1900g. Digl.R.P.G-06,(500-6/4)) a má elektrický zápalkový šroub C/22. Délka celého náboje je 929,2mm, délka nábojnice 640mm s průměrem dna 123,2mm

Tank Panther představoval německou reakci na ruský tank T-34/76. Překonával jej jak silou pancíře, tak zejména výkonností a přesností děla 7,5 cm KwK 42 L/70, tento náskok však byl brzy z velké části dohnán novou verzí jeho ruského protějšku T-34/85.
Vývojem nového středního tanku byla pověřena firma MAN v čele s hlavním konstruktérem Ing. Paulem Wiebickim. Ta už 17 týdnů po začátku práce na projektu vyrobila 3. února 1942 první prototyp tanku Panther. Nový tank byl poháněný motorem Maybach HL 210P45 s výkonem 475 kW. Trup a věž měly svařovanou konstrukci z ocelových plátů. Věž s šestiúhelníkovým půdorysem byla umístěna v blízkosti těžiště, otáčela se spolu se sedadly posádky, buď hydraulicky, nebo v případě selhání ručně. V zadní části pancéřování věže byl kruhový únikový otvor. Na vrchu byly umístěny periskopy, ventilátor a velitelská věžička. Boky věže měly sílu 45 mm, čelo 80 až 100 mm. Boční a zadní stěny trupu byly chráněny pancířem o síle 40 mm, čelní stěna 80 mm. Dno korby a vrch věže měly sílu 16 mm. Podvozek se skládal z osmi pojezdových kol, z napínacího a hnacího kola v dvou řadách. Pásy se skládaly z 86 článků a jejich šířka byla 660 mm. Tank byl kvalitně odpružený a na tu dobu poskytoval velký komfort. Výzbroj tvořil 75mm kanón 7,5 cm KwK 42 L70 vybavený úsťovou brzdou a dva kulomety MG 34.
